The Little Cities of Black Diamonds are former mining communities in Southern Perry, Eastern Hocking and Northern Athens Counties in Ohio. The Little Cities of Black Diamonds Council (LCBD) served as this region's MIRA team. Council membership includes citizens, community organization representatives, government office holders, tourism promoters and teachers from various institutions. The goal of the Council is to keep the past stories and traditions of the region alive and to use the region's history, culture and natural environment to enrich the region's future quality of life. As a MIRA team, the Council members wanted to use technology to create events, tours and educational projects that would promote the historical, cultural, civic and environmental assets of the region. First the team intended to obtain a permanent home for the Council and pay staff salary. Then, the team wanted to promote the Council through the creation of a brochure and an introductory video. They also wanted to update the Council's existing web site and then create virtual tours of the Little Cities for the web site. The team also planned to provide funding and initiative for the creation of a theater group that would perform at local events. The team also wanted to provide support to these existing events through funding and advertising. . |
