The Chittenden Community Television (Old North End Community Technology Center) is a 16 year old non-profit organization that aims to build the capacity of individuals, organizations, and the community-at-large to compete in the global digital economy. They operate a public On-Line Access Center and deliver affordable computer awareness and training to job seekers, micro-business owners, students and adults from Burlington's Old North End neighborhood and communities throughout Chittenden County. With the MIRA grant they will take government access television and distribute it on the internet. This project, entitled "Streaming Democracy," should be up an running in June of 2000. Initially, the CCTV will offer the Governor of Vermont's press conferences in video and print formats. The pieces for this project are all currently in place and they are awaiting a high speed connection donation from the local cable company.
