From the Taos MIRA website (this site is no longer available online):

The mission of the DreamTree Project is to promote the healing of spirit, mind and body in children, youth and families, in order to build a health community where we will be able to envision and pursue our dreams. The DreamTree Project will be assisting youth in crisis in Taos County with a full spectrum of support services. The Transitional Living Program will begin July 1, 2000. By the end of the year the Project will also provide a Wilderness Therapy Program for youth and families and an emergency Shelter for youth in immediate crisis.

The MIRA funds will be used to provide training in marketable computer-based office and business skills for youth participants in the Transitional Living Program, as well as to cover technical assistance and equipment costs associated with program initiation and development. These funds will:

  • Provide group training in computer literacy, word processing, data entry, web design and Internet navigation for the Transitional Living Participants;
  • Design and initiate a DreamTree website;
  • Train the staff on fundraising and implementation of an intensive fundraising campaign; and
  • Purchase of the necessary equipment essential for program implementation.
