It was the goal of the Ecotours Team to develop ecotours of Forest County. These ecotours would be additions to their tourism-based economy. The team decided on this goal after reviewing a doctoral thesis on ecotours as a rapidly emerging tourist attraction.

In order to reach their goals, the Ecotours team focused on creating virtual ecotours via digital movies. The team acquired the necessary production equipment to produce the movies. So far the team has complete nine movies as part of their project. The community interest in the project has been substantial and the team has created several videos for individual organizations that will be used in their ecotour. The team is now editing their movies to fit into their ecotour presentation.

The Ecotours Team's project is an ongoing effort. The team is currently in the process of developing a theater-style, portable, digital ecotour. Also, as on offshoot of their ecotour MIRA project, the team has also become involved in a project that utilizes high school students as mentors for "at-risk" elementary students. The high school students use computer as a tool is their tutoring sessions.
