The Radio Team is one of seven projects managed by the LLano Grande Center for Research and Development.

Taken from the Llano Grande Center's KBUZZ page:

K-BUZZ youth radio, FM 89.7 is a direct product of the work of young people from the rural South Texas communities of Edcouch, Elsa, La Villa, Monte Alto, San Carlos, Edinburg, and La Blanca.

This team has begun broadcasting on 89.7 FM (KBUZZ) on the local dial. A committee of more than 15 teenagers run the show from Edcouch-Elsa High School. Armando Garcia, Indira Garcia, Maria Chapa, under the guidance of Lauriano Aguirre, seem to be constants fixtures in the radio room. Andy Martinez typically comes in at 6:30 in the morning and just cannot seem to want to get out. Andy has been spotted at the station at 10 at night on occasion.

The radio team has weekly meetings. At one recent meeting, the team set some standards, including that every dj had to keep their grades up, that Andy couldn't take anymore food into the radio room, and that every dj needed a prepared music log prior to stepping into their dj'ing role. Thus, the disc jockies have focused on playing their brand of music and on creating their self-styled talk shows. There have been some amazing shows.

Students are running the station and talk about the potential (of people and radio/technology) to transform their community, create a new economy, and re-define an emerging culture.
