San Luis Valley Christian Community Services (SLVCCS) is an ecumenically directed and funded non-profit agency of the churches in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado. The agency is dedicated to promoting the dignity and value of life through programs and services which help people to develop their own potential. It is the mission of this organization to listen, speak-out and take action with those in need and to build a more just community. CCS's ministry involves community development, advocacy, and direct service. Networking and cooperation with other agencies are strong aspects of CCS's programming. Organized in 1973 as an outgrowth of the San Luis Valley Council of Presbyterian Churches Mobile Ministry, CCS remains a non-sectarian agency whose services are open to all people, regardless of race, color, or creed. In its 24-year history, CCS has helped establish 18 independent non-profit organizations. Current programs serve senior citizens, immigrants, low-income homeowners, peacemakers, new mothers, families, other non-profit agencies, and low-income people. |
