San Luis Valley Education and Information Center (SLVIC) was organized in May, 1992, to provide a central location for the distribution of information about programs and facilities within the San Luis Valley as well as to educate the general public about the human and natural resources of the San Luis Valley. Twelve agencies initially signed a Memorandum of Understanding, the purpose of which is to strengthen partnerships and continue cooperation in the joint promotion and marketingof tourism , recreation, and the historical, cultural, and agricultural resources of the San Luis Valley.
