The Glouster MIRA Team was interested in helping their community take the step into the information age. However, they knew that many people in their community were not familiar with or comfortable with information technologies. The Glouster team built their project around the idea of introducing the community to technology while forming an alliance between community youth and elders and better preparing community members for the workplace of the new millennium.

The team decided to establish a computer lab that was open to the community as a whole. The also wanted to offer learning opportunities on various computer applications and other computer skills.

To each their goal to team will secure office space to create a computer lab and conduct trainings. They will purchase all the necessary equipment for a modern community computing site, including computers, Internet access, copiers, fax machines, etc. In order to create a bond between the youth and elders, the team will recruit local youth to be trained as computer lab trainers who will teach the computing classes. The team will partnership with the local senior citizen center, school district, library and local businesses in order to promote the program and encourage sustainability. MIRA team youths will also be trained to manage the program, including creating and operating a business venture.

The Glouster Community Development Corporation (GCDC) will serve as the program evaluator and partner, providing support to the program through its diverse membership. The GCDC will evaluate the program after the first 200 community members have completed the computer training classes. The youth trainers will also be evaluated on their performance as teachers, managers, and program creators.
