Lewis-Clark State College is a regional state college offering undergraduate instruction in the liberal arts and sciences, professional areas tailored to the educational needs of Idaho, applied technical programs which support the state and local economy, and other educational programs designed to meet the needs of Idahoans.

In relation to the MIRA Initiative, LCSC acted as the area's fiscal agent and a member of a consortium of eight partner CSOs. The college purchased the necessary equipment to build a web site for Lewiston, Idaho and the surrounding areas. The web site is host to a wide variety of resources available to the community:

  • Community and Oral History Database
  • Virtual Volunteer Network
  • Local Assets
  • Best Practices
  • Open Studio and (Artist's Directories)
  • MIRA Mailing Lists
  • MIRA Chat Room
  • Idaho Virtual Incubator
  • Rural Business Online

These databases and resources increase the community's planning and assessing activities capacity.

LCSC also involved local high school students through a school-to-work project. The students managed and maintained the server for the website and received course credit for their activities.

The college also participated in conducting a joint CSO workshop called Information Technology for Communities and Nonprofit Organizations. The goals of this conference were to help the attendees assess their capacity to use technology, demonstrate ways that information technology can help community organizations, share the learning from the Idaho portion of the Kellogg MIRA project, and increase individuals capacity to use technology with training.
