The New Virginia Public Library was one of many organizations in New Virginia to benefit from the community's involvement with MIRA

The residents of New Virginia, Iowa wanted to "bring their community into the 21st century by using information technology to level the playing field for small business owners, civic and volunteer organizations and educational institutions."With the opportunity presented to them through the MIRA program, the team envisioned unlocking "the power of the Internet through technology, education and example."

In order to accomplish their goal, the team brought 2 local internet providers to New Virginia and developed a web site so their community could have a presence on the web. The team also purchased a computer, a printer and publishing software for community leaders and volunteer organizations, purchased technology books for the library, and provided HTML, Word, Excel and Basic Computer Instruction for local community leaders. At the conclusion of their project, they also sponsored an open house.
