The "Valley Flakes" Team takes its name from the Kellogg cereal Corn Flakes, since Kellogg's MIRA program is what made their project possible. The goal of the "Valley Flakes" Team was to increase computer access in the San Luis Valley by providing computer systems and training to areas with no public access computers. First, the team identified public areas in need of computer and Internet access. Then they chose Costilla County Library and Antonito Senior Center as two locations for public access computers. Computers were set-up by "Valley Flakes" team members in these locations and individual training with the computers were provided to the administrators at both locations. The team then held open houses at the locations. They then help follow up training sessions at the locations, which included one-on-one training sessions for the seniors at the Antonito Senior Center. |
